Gum Tissue Grafting

Gum recession can be caused by periodontal disease, trauma, aggressive tooth brushing, or other factors. Exposed tooth roots can make teeth sensitive to hot and cold, and more prone to decay.

Gum tissue grafts are used to cover roots or increase width of gum tissue, thereby strengthening it. This procedure can reduce further recession and bone loss, and in some cases it can cover exposed roots to protect them from decay, reduce sensitivity and improve the looks of a patient’s smile.

In this procedure, we transplant gum tissue from the roof of your mouth to the exposed roots. There are several different types of grafts and depending on your situation, we’ll recommend the procedure that’s ideal for you.  Most patients experience minimal discomfort after this procedure
